About Ken Everett
I've been an artist for over thirty years, painting the nature and wildlife of New England. I don't have to go far to find inspiration from Gods Creation daily. My style is a blend of realism and a more painterly traditional watercolor technique; I want to capture the details but still look like a painting. New England is a painters dream, the landscape is in constant change with the four seasons, and sometimes some of these seasonal changes happen in the same day! The old saying ' If you don't like the weather in New England, wait awhile it will change' is true. There is an abundance of wildlife, native, and migrants, that ideas for paintings are not a problem. I paint mostly birds, however, I will paint deer, fox, and other species on occasion, and it all depends on what I've seen or what Ideas I have for a painting.
I like the play of light in nature, the way a composition in a scene can be enhanced with the right lighting, I try to portray a sense of depth, and form, trying to show a convincing 3D image on a 2D surface. I like the interaction of man made things with the natural world, an old barn, a stone wall, or a wren nosing around in my shed are all things that draw my attention. I hope I can share with you through my art, some of my amazement that I feel witnessing the vast beauty of God’s creation daily.
